US-based IaaS provider Unitas Global deploys Platform Equinix in Singapore and Sydney to reach cloud service providers and enterprise customers operating in Equinix data centers in APAC. In October 2011, Unitas announced to expand its private cloud hosting service in Hong Kong.

Using AWS Direct Connect, customers of Equinix data center services can now connect their self-owned and managed infrastructure directly to Amazon Web Services from Asia Pacific, establishing a private network connection instead of via the Internet.

Equinix's HK2 data center is a two-phase project. While the first phase can house 450 cabinets, the second phase will provide an extra 1,000 cabinets and is expected to complete by mid-2012. Upon the completion, Equinix’s HK1 and HK2 are expected to provide 3,450 cabinets in total.
