Symantec optimizes security solutions for all hypervisors
By Asia Cloud Forum staff 23-Feb-2011
Symantec today announced new security solutions optimized for increased density and performance in virtual environments running on all currently available hypervisors.
Symantec's endpoint security, messaging security and endpoint management products are expected to help users simplify the maintaining secure virtual environments in a less costly manner. This is achieved by providing a common operating, licensing and management model across physical and virtual infrastructures.
Symantec's virtualization security strategy involves delivering customers Single Instance Security centered on complete protection, covering attack vectors that traditional antivirus protection cannot normally defend against.
Symantec's Single Instance Security represents Symantec's shift from in-guest, multi-instance protection, where each guest has its own instance of malware definitions and scanning engines, to out-of-guest protection where guests share a single instance of relevant protection technologies. This helps to better protect data and reduce operational and performance challenges associated with securing online and offline virtual environments.
