S Korea's Dongbu CNI targets SMBs with cloud service platform

Integrated IT service provider Dongbu CNI launched a cloud service platform targeting at SMBs and medical institutions in South Korea.
Dongbu CNI's cloud service platform will be used to provide cloud services to small medium businesses (SMBs) and medical institutions, which are facing challenges in establishing dedicated data centers and attracting skilled IT staff.
With cloud computing designated as part of Dongbu CNI's "next-generation" business milestone, the company selected CA Technologies' AppLogic cloud platform and Nimsoft's Unified Manager to implement key functionalities, such as provisioning and execution control, which is expected to run is cloud service platform faster and more cost-effective way.
"We are planning to offer cloud services utilizing CA Technologies and Nimsoft solutions, and will also start cloud environment implementation business for clients that want to operate their own cloud services," said Myung-se Kim, infrastructure outsourcing division manager, Dongbu CNI.
We will provide Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for various applications, including real-time transportation management system (TMS) service, server-based computing, IT service management (ITSM), enterprise portal and energy analytics," Kim added.
The CA AppLogic software helps users develop a virtual business service consisting of the application and the supporting infrastructure. It can be hosted at either an on-premise data center or managed service provider, and supports full automated provisioning.
Nimsoft Unified Manager is an integrated solution for IT monitoring and service management that allows integrated management of all infrastructures, including server, storage, network and database in the IT and cloud environments.
Server virtualization reduces TCO
Dongbu CNI has also implemented server virtualization to decrease the total cost of ownership for clients and improve service efficiency. Since the process began in 2005, Dongbu CNI has completed the virtualization of over 80% of the servers at its affiliates.
With strong virtualization know-how and server hosting business capability, the company is pushing ahead with its plan to launch the cloud business, having established a cloud service team in the second half of last year that will join hands with global companies.
Dongbu CNI plans to penetrate the cloud market by targeting its affiliates and expanding its presence through joint marketing activities with both companies.
