Parallels: SMBs the fastest growing cloud segment
By Asia Cloud Forum editors 28-May-2012
Parallels is urging service providers to remain focused on meeting the demand for SMB cloud services, the fastest growing cloud adoption segment.
Parallels SMB Cloud Insights, the company's ongoing market research on the global SMB cloud marketplace, estimates that the Asia Pacific cloud market has reached US$8.8 billion and will grow at a 27% CAGR to $18 billion by 2014. Globally, the SMB cloud services market is expected to expand at a 26% CAGR to $68 billion by 2014.
"As hosting and cloud services continues to become the default IT choice for SMBs in Asia Pacific, service providers need to have access to customer buying trends, the latest technology, and a vast partner ecosystem to meet these rising expectations," said John Zanni, vice president of Service Provider Marketing and Alliances at Parallels.
In the Asia Pacific, the opportunity to serve SMBs in the developed Asian markets such as Australia and Japan remains vibrant, while developing countries such as China and India are poised for explosive cloud services growth as they continue to build out their Internet infrastructure.
Parallels research also anticipates 75%-plus cloud services adoption in Australia and Japan and expects double-digit proliferation of hosted servers in China and India as Internet infrastructure continues to expand.
