Citrix Systems today announced to acquire VMLogix to add key life cycle management capabilities to the Citrix OpenCloud platform. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

VMLogix is a US-based provider of virtualization management for private and public clouds. This latest acquisition is expected to enable cloud providers to offer infrastructure services including staging, deployment and business continuity.

The VMLogix acquisition will also allow Citrix to add a self-service interface to its XenServer virtualization platform, enabling end users to access and manage their own virtual computing resources in on-premise private cloud environments.

“With the expanded capabilities of the OpenCloud platform for life cycle management, cloud interoperability and cloud networking, we are further delivering on our core belief to provide true choice for our customers,” said Klaus Oestermann, group VP and GM, networking and cloud product group, Citrix.

I’m a contractor for CloudShare (www.cloudshare.com) which provides IT as a Service (ITaS) to technology companies and enterprises. I'm just learning about this field, and it's good to see companies like Citrix expanding their services in this area. How do your new services with the help of VMLogix, specifically your end user interface, compare to CloudShare’s multi-tiered hierarchy of support and business-line specific functionality?
